Project Overview

CookTribe is a social “co-cooking” app—built for real-life connection, not endless chat. People meet to cook together, split ingredient costs, share recipes, and most importantly, replace loneliness with a tangible human experience.

This project was led by Olymaris from concept to UX design and MVP implementation.

Client: CookTribe

Key people:

  • Pouya — Project Manager
  • Hossein — CEO

The problem to solve

The idea was strong, but three risks could have killed the product:

  1. Trust & safety: In-person meetups without a trust framework increase fear and churn.
  2. Actionability: A “cooking night” must be quick to plan—otherwise users browse and leave.
  3. Economic value: Without a clear financial advantage, co-cooking becomes an expensive hobby.

Olymaris strategy

We built the product around one principle: within minutes, users should understand why it’s safe, why it’s affordable, and how they can reach their first real experience fast.

So we made the core value messages impossible to miss in the concept and UI:

  • Combat Loneliness: connect with real people near you
  • Budget Friendly: split ingredient costs with cooking partners
  • Learn & Grow: discover new recipes and techniques
  • Clear CTA: JOIN COMMUNITY, then LOGIN

And to make “safety” a mechanism—not a slogan—we implemented:

  • Minimum 3 people for safety
  • ID verification for all users
  • Local community matching
  • Share ingredients & recipes

User experience & funnel (How It Works)

The funnel was deliberately designed as a simple 3-step flow to reduce decision friction:

  1. Create Your Profile
Complete a personality test + verify identity (to reduce risk and improve match quality)
  2. Get Matched
Matching based on proximity, food preferences, skill level, budget, and interaction style
  3. Cook Together
Meet at a host’s kitchen and create a “real” group experience

What Olymaris delivered

  • Product & UX Strategy: dual personas (host/guest), trust scenarios, safety rules
  • UI/UX Design System: warm palette aligned with food/community, message-led cards, clear CTAs
  • Smart onboarding: personality test + low-friction verification flow
  • Matching Logic (MVP): compatibility scoring + local/time-based filters
  • Key flows: create event, join, split costs, shopping checklist, recipe sharing
  • Instrumentation: event tracking for funnel analysis (Activation, Match, Attendance, Retention)

Outcomes

Growth & activation metrics

  • Profile completion rate: 62% (before optimization: 41%)
  • ID verification completion rate: 74%
  • Time to First Match: 18 hours average (target: under 24 hours)

Experience & trust metrics

  • Onboarding drop-off reduction: 28%
  • “Join Community” → signup conversion: 19%
  • First event satisfaction: 4.6/5

Engagement metrics

  • Match → attendance conversion: 33%
  • 30-day retention: 21%
  • NPS: 52

Why this concept works

CookTribe doesn’t promise “you’ll make friends” like many social apps. Instead, it offers a low-risk human reason to meet: cooking.

And we made sure users feel it from the first screens:

  • There are rules (minimum 3 people, ID verification)
  • There is benefit (splitting ingredient costs)
  • There is growth (learning and discovery)
  • Most importantly: it’s real—not just messages and profiles.
